Police around the region are on the lookout for two people who were seen stealing a donation box from a convenience store on video surveillance.

The theft occurred on Tuesday night at the Quik-E-Mart on U.S. Highway 97 in Brewster.

Footage of the incident shows a male and female take the box while making a purchase at the checkout counter.

Employees of the minimart say the box was placed in the store by the non-profit Samaritan Riders organization to collect donations for a child who is ill.

It is unknown how much money was inside the box at the time it was stolen.

Police are asking anyone with information about the theft to contact the Brewster Police Department (509-689-2331).
