You are listening to the Expresso Entertainment Update. Here is the latest news from the world of South Indian Cinema brought to you by The Indian Express. “Let us begin today’s bulletin with news on actor Kamal Haasan‘s latest Tamil film “Vikram”. It was received well by the fans at the box office. Now, the actor has reportedly started the preparation for his much-awaited film “Indian 2”. The film will be the sequel to the 1996 vigilante movie. The sequel has been in talks for a long time but reports eventually suggested that the film was not going to see the light of the day. Now, according to Pinkvilla, the film is happening and is ready to go on floors in September this year. Haasan has reportedly already jetted off to the US for the preparation work and will spend three weeks in the States for the same. ” ” Meanwhile, after the release of Vaathi’s first look and Naane Varuven’s new poster, Dhanush fans are now being treated to the third single from ‘Thiruchitramabalam’ ahead of the Tamil star’s 39th birthday today. Titled “Life of Pazham,” the song is composed by Anirudh Ravichander and written by lyricist Vivek. Earlier, the songs “Thaai Kelavi” and “Megham Karudkaadha” were released, and have since raked in good numbers on YouTube. While the former has crossed 8.5 million views, the latter is inching towards 5 million views. Thiruchitrambalam, directed by Mithran Jawahar, marks the return of the hit composer-actor combo of Anirudh and Dhanush. Fondly known as DnA, the duo has churned out hit albums such as 3, Velaiyilla Pattathari, and Maari. ” ” Speaking of actor Dhanush, a new poster for ‘Naane Varuven’, the upcoming film starring Dhanush, was unveiled ahead of his birthday last evening. The poster features Dhanush’s character in a forest, holding a bow and quiver of arrows. The film brings back the hit combo of Dhanush and his elder brother, director Selvaraghavan. Selva took to Twitter to share the new poster and wrote, “A special birthday for a special person. Happy birthday in advance my dear brother”. The duo has been behind some iconic Tamil films such as Kadhal Kondein, Pudhupettai, and Mayakkam Yenna. After about a decade-long gap, the two have again come together for this film, which marks their fifth collaboration. ” “Actor Dhanush is the latest buzz in town. The talks on Dhanush’s role in Russo Brother’s The Gray Man are far from over, but the Tamil star has already moved on to the promotion of his Tamil-Telugu bilingual, ‘Vaathi’. As promised, the first look poster of the film is out, and it features Dhanush engrossed in his study. ‘Vaathi’, touted to be a campus tale, features Dhanush in the role of a teacher for the first time in his career. In 2021, Vijay played a similar role in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Master, which struck gold at the box office. Hence, there is a huge expectation among Dhanush fans. Vaathi marks Dhanush’s first Tamil-Telugu bilingual, with the Telugu version being titled Sir. ” “It is well-known that apart from acting, Ajith Kumar has several other interests like car racing, bike riding, and drone engineering. He is also into rifle shooting and has won six medals including a gold at the 46th Tamil Nadu State Shooting Competition. Now, the Tamil actor is participating in the 47th Tamil Nadu State Shooting competition. He was spotted at Tichy Rifle Club, where the competition is currently being held. The competition began on July 24th and will go on till the end of this month. About 1500 shooters from across states are said to be participating in the competition. Videos and pictures of Ajith from Trichy Rifle Club are going viral on social media.” “Moving on, actor Ravi Teja’s fans will finally get to enjoy his film ‘Ramarao on Duty’ in theatres, starting this Friday. The movie, whose theatrical release was delayed twice, is directed by Sarath Mandava. This is his first Telugu film. He said that the script gave him the much-needed confidence to direct a major star like Teja. Talking about his experience of directing Teja, Mandava told indianexpress.com, “I was excited to work with Teja but there was no pressure. The script was ready and everyone heard it. What I believe is that the script is above all. If my script is strong enough and everybody hears it and says ‘Yes man, let’s go with this!’, then everything is ok.”” “In other news, The Film Exhibitors United Organisation of Kerala (FEUOK) has issued an ultimatum to the producers of Malayalam movies. The association has decided not to screen films of those stars who make movies keeping the OTT audience in mind. The FEUOK held a press conference in Kochi recently and laid down its demand to rein in the theatrical distribution in the state, which is going through turmoil. The FEUOK has dashed off a letter to the Kerala film chamber raising their concerns about producers releasing new films on OTT before the agreed-upon time. According to reports, the stakeholders had agreed that producers will wait for 42 days after its initial theatrical release to release movies on OTT platforms. ” “We end this bulletin with news on Telugu Film Producers Guild. Earlier reports about a possible producers’ strike have turned out to be true. Active Telugu Film Producers Guild (ATFPG) officially announced on Tuesday that there will be no film shooting from the first week of August. The film body said that its members will come together to discuss the issues that have been affecting producers in the aftermath of the pandemic. The shoots will be resumed once ATFPG takes corrective measures. ATFPG is a group comprised of prominent film producers. The guild has been formed to ‘improve the efficiency of film production through the process of self-regulation and collaboration.’”
