Hope Changes Everything benefit concert: Riverside Presbyterian Church will host a benefit concert for Uganda's Village of Hope, when they present Hope Changes Everything, a musical tribute event featuring Fire & Rain - The James Taylor Experience on Sunday, Aug. 21, at 3:30 p.m. at 3400 N. Atlantic Avenue (A1A). For a $10 admission fee, audience members can enjoy note-perfect renditions of the timeless songs by folk rock legend, James Taylor, including “Fire & Rain,” “Carolina in My Mind,” “Sweet Baby James,” “Steamroller,” “Mexico” and “How Sweet it Is (to be Loved by You).” The band will also perform a number of selections from the music of Jackson Browne and Glenn Frey of Eagles fame. At intermission, handicrafts by Ugandan orphans will be offered for sale, with 100% of the proceeds donated to the Village of Hope. Band leader, Greg Pitts will be on hand to answer questions about the Village of Hope and discuss his annual trips to Uganda. Kids Art Classes with Glaucia Romano: Artist and teacher Glaucia Romano will be teaching multi session classes which begin in August at the Studios of Cocoa Beach, located at 159 Minutemen Causeway in downtown Cocoa Beach. Glaucia has many years experience teaching art, in public schools and private lessons ,as well as creating art in all forms. Two of the classes are for children while a third also includes adults. On August 22 a 6 week class for homeschooled students begins. Fiber Artists Meet: The Space Coast Weavers and Fiber Artists will meet at 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 27 at the Merritt lsland Public Library, located at 1195 N. Courtenay Parkway. The program is ‘Preparing to do a Fiber Demo.” Members will also be showcasing the fiber works they have created using the grab bag of miscellaneous supplies they were given in June. Results are always amazing. Since 1983 SCW&FA has been Brevard’s go to guild for fiber arts: spinning, weaving, basketry, rug hooking,and more. The guild helps fiber artists, beginning or advanced, learn through workshops and the informal exchange of ideas. They also work to educate the public about the fiber arts. Run 4 Paws: Gather your family, your dogs, your friends, your friends' dogs, and yourself and celebrate the mission of Canine Companions at Run 4 Paws. You can participate as a runner, jogger or walker on the two-mile course for a morning of fun. Everyone is invited to participate. "Moving History" Film: Green Gables at Historic Riverview Village, Inc. will host a documentary red carpet event for a film entitled "Moving History" directed by Jennifer East. Charity Golf Tournament: On September 24, The Brevard Family Partnership Foundation is excited to host its second annual Golf Tournament charity event. “Endless Summer” Paintings by Terry Cope: The Downtown Art Gallery , 335 S. Washington Avenue in downtown Titusville is proud to present the paintings of Terry Cope, their Spotlight Artist for the month of August Terry is well known for his textured painting of mangroves. With summer in full force, he has turned his attention to surfing. His Endless Summer Series features playful, light filled, surfers shaded by their boards in the bright Florida sun, or confidently riding the waves. His pen and ink sketches whimsically capture surfers in action. Terry spent his childhood exploring the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge and surfing area beaches. For 20 years he lived in South Florida, marketing high quality artist supplies, meeting artists, and studying techniques. Returning to his hometown of Titusville, Terry resumed his interest in the local environment. His oil and acrylic paintings depict surfers, mangrove shorelines, sea birds and turtles. Terry is always trying new things and his latest work is a culmination of his experience with different mediums. Scavenger Hunt: Sams House at Pine Island Conservation Area hosts a nature scavenger hunt every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Come join the fun at the historic 1888 Sams House. Enjoy the afternoon exploring the grounds in this family friendly nature hunt. Sams House is located at 6195 N Tropical Trail on Merritt Island.

Sams House at Pine Island Conservation Area was created and is managed under Brevard County’s Environmentally Endangered Lands Program referendum.

Lawndale - a Blue Star Museum: Lawndale is an 1880 pioneer homestead in Rockledge that is now open for tours. It has now been registered as a Blue Star Museum. That means that active duty military and their families will have free admission through Sept. .

Lawndale sits on a 2 acre site with 183 feet of river frontage along scenic Rockledge Drive. Docents in period dress guide visitors through the old homestead which has been restored and furnished as a family home of 1895. The beautiful riverfront location of Lawndale at 1219 Rockledge Drive is in the middle of three National Register Historic Districts.

Lawndale is open for tours the first Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. A donation of $10 per person is suggested. Lawndale is located at 1219 Rockledge Drive in Rockledge.

Palm Bay Community Bingo: Bingo twice weekly at the Greater Palm Bay Senior Center.

There will be Bingo every Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and every week on Friday from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
