Like many automakers, Audi is using 2023 as a year of catching up as it works through supply-chain issues and uncertain demand. What is not disputable is Audi's commitment to battery-electric vehicles (BEVs). In the past 18 months, the German premium brand introduced multiple new E-tron models, including the Audi E-tron GT, RS E-tron GT, Q4 E-tron, and Q4 Sportback E-tron.

Audi says it expects to have more BEVs on sale in the United States than any other luxury-brand manufacturer by the end of 2022. The company's executives expect additional availability of Audi E-tron GT, RS E-tron GT, Q4 E-tron, and Q4 Sportback E-tron. Audi has said it plans to achieve net carbon neutrality by 2050.

At the same time Audi is ramping up its BEV offerings it also continues to enhance its conventional gasoline-powered fleet of vehicles. The most exciting Audi model available for 2023 is the next-generation RS 3 sedan, the high-performance sibling of the new Audi S3.

Equipment changes and package upgrades are prevalent across the Audi 2023 portfolio. Changes to individual model lines are listed below in alphabetical order.

After being completely revamped for the 2022 model year, the Audi A3 small luxury sedan and its S3 sport sedan counterpart get minor changes for 2023. Audi upgrades the 2023 A3 40 with full LED headlights and stitched leatherette armrests. Perhaps the most welcome change is the ability to order adaptive cruise control (ACC) as an option on the A3 and S3 base Premium trim levels. The Convenience package for both now includes a wireless charging pad. The Premium Plus trim now features LED interior lighting and birch wood inlay. Audi includes new wheels and tires on the Black Optic Sport package.

Performance enthusiasts will no doubt prefer the all-new second-generation RS 3 sedan, which arrived late in the 2022 model year. Audi equips the renewed model with a 5-cylinder engine that delivers 401 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. The automaker says the engine will fling the new RS 3 from zero-to-60 mph in just 3.6 seconds. The new suspension with dynamic chassis control drops the RS 3 25 mm lower than the A3, offering continuous real-time adjustment. Audi equips the new model with the RS Torque Splitter that employs electronically controlled clutches on each rear driveshaft, enabling the system to apply variable drive torque to each wheel.

The Audi A4 compact luxury sedan gets minor trim and package changes for the 2023 model year. The A4 40, 45, and Allroad now have standard LED headlights with a distinctive configuration. The popular Black Optic Plus package on the A4 45 now offers more black than ever, including the exhaust tips and rear lip spoiler. And since black is the new black, buyers can order the 2023 A4 Allroad with a Black Optic Plus package for the first time. Available on the Premium Plus and Prestige trim levels, the package features gray contrast paint, body-color door handles, black roof rails, black exhaust tips, black exterior trim, black mirror housings, and 18-inch graphite gray wheels. Audi also adds ACC to the Convenience package for the A4 and S4.

Additional features and package options are the most substantial changes to the Audi A5 for 2023. Matrix-design LED headlights are now standard equipment for all A5s. The A5 Coupe, A5 Sportback 45, and A5 Cabriolet get new 18-inch 5-spoke wheels. Audi also fits the A5 Cabriolet with an S line exterior, illuminated door sills, gray oak inlays, and sport front seats. Tweaks to the Black Optic packages add more black elements. Buyers of the A5 and S5 who choose the Convenience package now get ACC.

The big headline on the 2023 RS 5 is the availability of a new Competition package that includes improved hardware plus cosmetic enhancements. Audi massaged the engine control unit and installed a coil-over suspension for 2023. The suspension change lowers ride height by 10mm, and customers can "manually" lower ride height another 10mm if they choose to do so. The package also includes an altered rear differential and tightened steering. The tweaks enable Audi to up the speed-limiter top end to 180 mph versus the previous 174. Matte carbon fiber and gloss black trim spice up the exterior.

Newly added advanced driving assistance systems (ADAS) is the most significant change to the 2023 Audi A6. The Premium trims of the A6 45 and 55 TFSI now have adaptive cruise assist with lane guidance as a part of the Convenience package. The Prestige adds remote park assist plus.

For 2023, the high-performance S6 gets a new Premium trim with an available Convenience package. The S6 Executive package has adaptive cruise assist with lane guidance, a power-operated trunk lid, and LED interior lighting. A new Audi Sport stitching package, including a black interior with red contrast stitching, is now available. The S6 Premium Plus trim includes LED interior lighting; heated rear seats; leather dash, armrests, and console; and driver-assistance tech.

Audi adds more standard features to the A7 luxury hatchback for 2023. Adaptive cruise control is a new addition to the base Premium trim, and Prestige trims get remote park assist plus. For the new model year, Audi has combined the features of the S Line and Black Optic package; the new combo is available on all A7 trims.

The performance-minded S7 gets a new Premium trim, and a new Audi Sport stitching package is now available. It includes a black interior with red contrast stitching and black safety belts with red edging.

The A8 full-size sedan received a light mid-cycle refresh for 2022, so the changes for 2023 are minor. HD matrix-design LED headlights are available as part of the Comfort Plus package. Audi also added remote park assist plus to the A8 and S8 Executive packages. The enthusiast-oriented S8 also gets standard Valcona leather interior with rhombus stitching. (Yes, rhombus stitching.)

For 2023, the Audi E-tron and E-tron Sportback battery-electric SUVs return largely unchanged except for equipment package alterations. Audi now fits the E-tron Sportback Prestige with 22-inch bi-color wheels, orange front and rear brake calipers, rear side airbags with illuminated safety belt buckles, and matrix headlights. Also for 2023, the Prestige trim of the E-tron Sportback gets the Black Optic exterior package standard. The Prestige trim level of both the E-tron S and E-tron S Sportback now have Digital Matrix-design LED headlights.

Changes in exterior appearance and equipment mark the 2023 Audi E-tron GT and the high-output RS E-tron GT. Audi replaces the gray grille of the 2022 E-tron GT with a body-color grille. Perhaps more substantively, a Bang and Olufsen sound system and 20-inch all-season tires are now standard on the E-tron GT. Owners will likely appreciate that Audi added a second charging port on the passenger side of the E-tron GT.

A ceramic brake package with anthracite calipers plus 21-inch 5-double-spoke concave wheels are available on the sizzling 2023 RS E-tron GT. The sporty EV also is the beneficiary of the same standard feature changes as the E-tron GT.

Full LED headlights with a distinctive design are newly standard for all 2023 Audi Q3 small crossover SUVs. A wireless phone-charging pad replaces the previous model's phone box with a signal booster. Two new wheel designs are available on the Q3 40: 18-inch 5-spoke wheels are standard, with 19-inch 20-spoke wheels available as part of a new Black Optic package on the Premium trim. Additionally, the Q3 45 adds 20-inch rotor design wheels with summer tires as an option with the Black Optic sport package.

All-new for 2022, the Audi Q4 E-tron and Q4 E-tron Sportback are little changed for the new model year as production and availability ramp up. The twin models are Audi's entry-level battery-electric-powered crossover SUVs. A single asynchronous electric motor powers the rear-drive Q4 40 E-tron, while the Q4 50 E-tron and the Q4 E-tron Sportback have an all-electric version of Audi's Quattro all-wheel drive (AWD) using dual asynchronous motors. All three variants seat five and offer well-finished and surprisingly spacious interiors. The Quattro models can tow up to 2,600 pounds when properly equipped.

The Audi Q5 crossover is the brand's best-selling model, and its top change is the addition of ACC. It's standard on all Q5 and SQ5 models. Audi includes a Bang and Olufsen sound system in the Premium Plus trim. The Q5 55 adds OLED taillights to the Sport Plus package on the Prestige trim level.

The biggest news for the Audi Q7 large crossover SUV is the new 261-hp 4-cylinder engine now fitted in the Q7 45 TFSI. It represents a 13-hp increase from the previous power plant. A new interior package that adds leatherette with stitching to the dashboard is standard across the lineup. Audi includes matrix-design LED headlights in the Q7 45 TFSI Premium Plus trim level, while the Q7 55 TFSI gets the headlights standard. Additionally, the Premium Plus Convenience package now includes ACC with lane guidance.

The performance-oriented 2023 SQ7 with the Executive package now has dual-pane glass. Later in the model year, factory 22-inch wheels will be available for the first time on the SQ7.

The changes to the Audi Q8 large crossover SUV largely mirror those of the Q7. Additionally, headlight washers and headlight/taillight animation are now standard on the 2023 Q8 and SQ8. As you might guess, the Q8's Premium trim Convenience package now includes adaptive cruise assist with lane guidance.

Available in the Premium Plus trim for the Q8 and SQ8, the Executive package adds dual-pane glass for a quieter interior environment. New interior packages are also available for the 2023 Q8, which adds leatherette with stitching to the dashboard on Premium trim and leatherette with stitching to the armrests and console on the Premium Plus. The Prestige trim adds remote park assist plus.

For 2022, Audi gave the R8 mid-engine sports car more horsepower, even as rumors of a replacement swirled. Audi will not confirm that, nor will it confirm a 2023 model is imminent, but the automaker did suggest that it would soon release news regarding a 2023 R8.

Audi fits the 2023 Audi TT Coupe and TT Roadster with new 18-inch alloy wheels, while the more powerful TTS is unchanged for 2023. The limited-edition, top-spec, 394-hp TT RS is discontinued.
