Officials are investigating the cause of a Monday night fire that destroyed at least two Nashville shops.

Town Council President Nancy Crocker says the fire broke out at Wishful Thinking, a scrapbook shop, and spread to a sign store.

“Man were we lucky," Crocker said. "Because first of all, it was not a windy night, it was a nice calm night. And our Nashville fire department happened to be at the station for a meeting.”

Crocker says the volunteer fire department was able to respond to the corner of South Old School Way and Pittman House Lane within minutes after a call from a town public restroom attendant.

“She was probably just leaving that last restroom nearby and she called in the alarm.”
