The Ind. 45/46 bridge over I-69 was named in honor of fallen reserve deputy James Driver at a ceremony Thursday afternoon.

Driver died while responding to a car crash in late March. After his death in March, the Senate passed a resolution to rename the bridge in his memory.

The ceremony took place at the Monroe County Courthouse. Attendees included the family, Senator Shelli Yoder, Monroe County Sheriff Brad Swain, and representatives from INDOT.

The resolution says Driver was “devoted to the people of Monroe County, spending many of his days off from his regular occupation to serve as a reserve deputy.”
